Get Involved! Serve as an Award Reviewer

Each year TESOL releases a call for award reviewers. Award reviewers are an integral part of the award selection process. Your service enables you to use your expertise and experience to evaluate award applicants.

Awards Available to Review

As a TESOL member, you may apply to review applications for the following awards.

TESOL Awards for Excellence & Service

TESOL Award for Excellence in Research
To recognize excellence in research on language teaching and learning. 
TESOL Outstanding Advocate Honor Award
To recognize an exceptional leader and professional who has demonstrated outstanding advocacy efforts in the TESOL field that are aligned with the vision, mission, values, and commitments of the association.

The Ron Chang Lee for Excellence in Classroom Technology To honor TESOL members who have achieved excellence through the implementation of technology in ELT.

Travel Grants and Scholarships

TESOL Awards for International Participation
To increase participation of presenters from outside of North America at the annual TESOL convention.
The Meral Güceri TESOL/TEFL Travel Grant
To provide resources for English language professionals to attend the TESOL Convention.
The University of Pittsburgh Travel Award for IEP Instructors
To support the professional development of ESL teachers and trainers in IEPs attending the annual TESOL convention.

Application Process

Expectations and Requirements

To apply, you must:

Be a current member of TESOL International Association.
Have regular internet access.
Have access to a computer with Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have the reader, you can download it for free.
Have not applied for the same award you want to review for.
Be available to review applications in October.

The time commitment varies by award, but reviewers should expect to commit at least 8 hours during the review period.

How to Apply

To complete the application, you will need:

A list of the past awards you have reviewed (if applicable).
An estimate of your availability for review work.
A description of your professional and other TESOL International Association commitments.
The name of the award you wish to review (optional). Please note that you may be assigned to a different award.
CV or résumé.
