Activity Description: I use this video for my college-level English writing and introductory composition course. The video introduces the concepts of rhetoric by investigating the sights, sounds, and smells of Starbucks. It is useful for introducing the concepts of "ethos, pathos, and logos" used in rhetorical persuasion (oral or written). The video is also useful as a multi-media tool to explore U.S. culture, customs, and practices. NOTE: I have carefully edited the CC text to be correct. I suggest allowing students to view CC while watching to enhance comprehension and allow for multiple modes of learning styles.
