About the TESOL & T-Mobile Community

TESOL International Association and telecommunications company T-Mobile are joining to create a community of K-12 ELT professionals to boost digital literacy skills in schools! Join your fellow educators, researchers, and technology experts to share knowledge about using innovative technologies to enhance language learning!

Between November 2024 and March 2025, this community will meet for five live webinars, hold asynchronous online discussions, share resources, and upload action plans.

We're now accepting webinar proposals for this community!

Workshop Topics

Choose one of the following topics for your proposal. Please plan for a 45-minute webinar.

  • ChatGPT and Other Tools: Explore how AI tools can be used to create personalized learning experiences, assist with vocabulary building, and enhance conversational skills.
  • AI-Powered Assessment: Discuss the potential of AI for automated language assessment and its implications for classroom practice.
  • Ethical Considerations: Address the ethical implications of using AI in language education, including issues of privacy, bias, and accountability. 

  • Digital Games and Apps: Share your experiences using interactive, game-based learning apps to promote language acquisition through play and competition.
  • Gamification Strategies: Discuss effective gamification strategies for TESOL classrooms, including the use of points, badges, and leaderboards. 
  • Game-Based Assessment: Explore how games can be used for formative and summative assessment in language learning. 

  • Accessibility and Equity: Address the challenges of the digital divide and discuss strategies to ensure equitable access to digital literacy tools for all ELL learners.
  • Digital Literacy Skills: Explore essential digital literacy skills for ELLs, such as critical thinking, information evaluation, and digital communication.
  • Bridging the Gap: Share effective strategies for bridging the digital divide, including partnerships with community organizations and technology providers.

  • Mobile-Friendly Resources: Showcase innovative mobile apps and resources that can turn everyday devices into powerful language learning tools.
  • Mobile Learning Strategies: Discuss effective strategies for incorporating mobile learning into TESOL classrooms, including flipped learning and blended learning.
  • Challenges and Best Practices: Address the challenges and best practices associated with mobile learning in language education.   

  • Tools and Resources: Share effective tools and resources for engaging families of ELL students with digital literacy.
  • Family Engagement Strategies: Discuss strategies for building partnerships between schools and families to support language learning.
  • Addressing Language Barriers: Explore strategies for overcoming language barriers and ensuring that families from diverse backgrounds can access and benefit from digital literacy resources.

Submit Your Proposal

  • Please submit a 250-word abstract outlining your proposed 45-minute presentation.
  • Include your name, institutional or professional affiliation, and contact information.

Proposals are due by 20 October.
Selected presenters will be notified by 25 October.
