Registration and Refund Policies

Read all the information on this page before registering for a TESOL event or buying a TESOL product. Once a registration or payment is completed, you consent to abide by the policies outlined below as well as TESOL’s code of conduct.

In registering for an event or purchasing a product, TESOL requires you to provide a certain amount of your personal data. Your privacy is very important to us. TESOL’s privacy policy specifically details what information we collect and how it is used.

Any questions about policies should be addressed to the appropriate department:

For most of our programs, space is limited. Register early! Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Credit cards, checks, and purchase orders are accepted as a form of payment. Check payment must be postmarked no later than 20 days before the event. TESOL reserves the right to cancel registration if payment is not received/postmarked by 20 days before the event. Purchase order payment must be received by 5 days after the event.

A group is five or more registrants from the same institution.

Group registration should be managed by one institution point of contact. This person may pay for the group by:

  • Sending a check to TESOL.
  • Paying online with a credit card.
  • Issuing a purchase order (PO).*

*POs are accepted as a form of payment until 10 days before the event. POs must be submitted at the time of registration. The point of contact will be invoiced within 2 business days of receipt. Registrants registering with a purchase order should forward invoices to and follow up with their employer to ensure timely payment. For in-person events, full payment must be received 5 days after the event. For an online event, full payment must be received before the start date of the event.

To request TESOL's W-9, please email the appropriate department.

Requests for refunds for the TESOL annual convention must be made in writing and must be received 20 days before the event. A US$75 processing fee will be deducted from your refund. Refunds are not issued in cash and not on site at the location of an in-person event.

Requests for refunds on all other facilitated TESOL offerings must be received no later than 10 calendar days before the start of an in-person event and 5 business days before the start of an online event. A US$75 processing fee will be deducted from the amount to be refunded (this fee is waived for TESOL Global members). Self-study online courses are nonrefundable.

TESOL membership dues, convention ticketed events, and live online registrations are nonrefundable.

TESOL reserves the right to cancel any events because of low registration or events beyond TESOL's control. In the unlikely event of cancellation, registrants will be notified and offered the option to switch to a different event or receive a full refund.

By registering, attending, or participating in meetings and other activities sponsored by TESOL International Association, you agree to allow TESOL International Association to record, reproduce, and distribute your image or voice in photographs, video recordings, audio recordings, and any other methods of reproduction now and in the future. If an attendee wishes not to participant in such activities, please contact TESOL (see emails above).

TESOL reserves the right to substitute event facilitators in the unlikely event that the facilitators listed cannot conduct the program. Substitution of event facilitators is not a cause for refund.

TESOL provides digital badges for most of its online courses and certificates of completion for some of its professional learning opportunities. To obtain the badge or certificate, participants have to complete a course or event feedback form. For our annual in-person convention, TESOL provides certificates of attendance to attendees and presenter certificate to presenters.

Discounts are available for tax-exempt purchase orders and bulk purchases. Please contact publications@tesol.org for more information. For all other TESOL Press purchase policies, please visit https://bookstore.tesol.org/.
