Alexandria, Va. (May 28, 2025) – TESOL Press proudly announces the release of Building a Classroom Culture Through Translanguaging: Theory to Practice, a timely and practical guide for English language educators seeking to create inclusive, effective classrooms that honor and leverage the rich linguistic and cultural assets of their multilingual learners of English.

Coauthored by three internationally recognized professionals in the English language teaching field—Holly Hansen-Thomas, María-Elena Gómez-Parra, and Barbara Muszyńska—this book draws from global research and classroom-tested practices to help teachers develop classrooms that are not only culturally responsive but also actively engage students' existing languages as powerful tools for learning. Designed for preservice teachers, in-service educators, and teacher educators, the book bridges theory and practice by providing real-world examples, pedagogical tools, and practical strategies.

Renowned professor and pioneer in the field of translanguaging Ofelia García of The City University of New York praised the book, stating, “What makes the pedagogical strategies in this book helpful is that they are based on actual classroom practices. These teacher educators have had ample experience teaching English as an additional language, and they share pedagogical practices that they themselves have developed through their own experience.”
