The Standards Committee (SC) directs, monitors, evaluates, and otherwise oversees all standards initiatives that support TESOL's mission and the needs of its members.
Activities and ResponsibilitiesTo fulfill its charge, the SC oversees the development, approval, dissemination, and ongoing implementation of standards, including the approval of authors and editors to develop standards; and identifying and prioritizing future standards projects. The SC has also developed an overall framework for TESOL standards, as well as guidelines that specify further the policies and procedures for the committee's work and spell out procedures for the submission of proposals for new projects.
QualificationsMembers of the Standards Committee represent the diversity of expertise and program level of the larger TESOL membership. Each member of the committee has some level of experience and understanding of standards in education, and is willing to participate and contribute to all committee activities.
