Charge

The Rules and Resolutions Committee processes all resolutions for presentation at the annual business meeting at the TESOL convention. It also reviews and recommends any editorial corrections to TESOL's governance documents upon the request of the TESOL Board of Directors.

Activities

Before and during the convention in 2003, the committee must review any proposed resolutions from affiliates, interest sections, standing committees, the board of directors, or individual members of TESOL before they are officially acted upon. The committee, upon request of the board of directors, oversees the implementation of approved resolutions.

Responsibilities

It is important that members of the committee be able to attend the annual convention for 3 consecutive years in order to assist in the resolutions process. All members must be able to carefully review governance documents and communicate their opinions on issues to the chair via e-mail, fax, telephone, and airmail.

Qualifications

Members should be knowledgeable about the field of ESL/EFL and the structure of the TESOL organization and have a basic understanding of the purpose, objectives, and structure of a resolution and the way it is approved in TESOL. A member of the Rules and Resolutions Committee must enjoy working with the intricate finesses of the English language, have strong editorial skills, and have an interest in the work of the committee.

Members

Allison Rainville, chair (arainville527@gmail.com); Patricia Killian; Susan Iannuzzi; Gema Catire (parliamentarian)
