Charge

The Employment Issues Committee (EIC) serves as a forum for members to discuss employment issues and concerns in the field of TESOL, including equal employment, hiring, and retention for underrepresented groups; nonnative-speaker employment; and part-time, adjunct, contingent, and temporary employment. The EIC makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on ways in which TESOL can address employment issues and concerns within its status as a nonprofit education association.

Responsibilities

The Committee’s members should represent a variety of program levels and sectors in the field. Each Committee member should demonstrate a commitment to serve as an active member of the Committee and be willing to address any or all employment issues and concerns brought before the Committee. Committee members are expected to attend the Annual Convention and participate in committee meetings.  During the year, members provide support for ongoing projects as requested by the Chair.

Qualifications

All committee members must be current TESOL members.  The committee must represent variety of program levels and sectors in the field, and the diversity of interests and expertise of the TESOL membership.
