Dr. Fernando Fleurquin is the director of marketing, communications, and stakeholder relations at Michigan Language Assessment. With over 30 years of experience as an ESL/EFL teacher, teacher educator, writer, assessment specialist, program evaluator, and administrator, Dr. Fleurquin is also a medical doctor, has a master’s degree in marketing and business, and a doctoral degree in higher education from the University of North Texas. His areas of interest include assessment, standards, leadership, online education, and program administration.
Dr. Christine Coombe has a doctoral degree in foreign/second language education from The Ohio State University. She is currently on the English and Liberal Studies faculty at Dubai Men’s College in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She has managed assessment programs for the past 20 years. In 2008, she co-edited a volume on leadership skills and strategies in ELT. Dr. Coombe served as the 2011-2012 TESOL International Association president.
Silvia Laborde, M.Ed., has over 30 years of experience in the EFL field, almost 20 of which she was academic director. She holds a master's degree in education from University CLAEH, Uruguay, with a specialization in educational technology. She holds a diploma in educational management from Universidad ORT, Uruguay, and has a demonstrated history of working in the professional training and coaching industry. She is currently a professor at the State University in Uruguay. Her areas of interest include educational management, hybrid pedagogy, learning analytics, and educational technology. Silvia served as a TESOL International Association board member from 2016-2019.
